Jersey Shore Partnership Testifies in Trenton
On June 19,2008,the Partnership presented testimony before the Assembly and Senate Budget Committees opposing bils that would essentially eliminate the Shore Protection Fund. A compromise bill was passed with amendments offered by Senator Van Drew that will protect the Fund going forward.

JSP Gives Testimony at DEP Hearing
JSP President Dick Dewling presented testimony regarding Public Trust and the Proposed Amendments to the Coastal Zone Management Rules on January 17, 2008. The testimony affirms that the Partnership shares DEP's goal of ensuring publi access to publi beaches. However, Mr. Dewling cautioned that it is very importnat that any new regulations not impose unnecessary or burdensome requirements on local partners or home owners that could impede or conflict with shore protection projects.

Avalon has filed a lawsuit in Superior Court against the DEP over a proposal that defines public access requirements as a condition to receive state funding for beach replenishment.

Partnership testifies at Senate Budget Hearings
The Jersey Shore Partnership gave testimony on June 19th to express opposition to A2806/S2043 that proposed to transfer $9 million from the Shore Protection Fund for the State Parks and change the name of the Fund to create greater access to the designated purpose of the Fund for beach replenishment.
