• JSP Gives Testimony at Assembly and Senate Budget Committee Hearings
On June 19, we provided testimony to the Assembly Budget Committee and testified before the Senate Budget Committee to oppose a bill transferring $9 million from the Shore Protection Fund and broadening the purpose of the Fund to include other projects beyond beach replenishment. This would seriously erode the funding reserved for beach replenishment and would result in the loss of significant federal dollars. Our testimony was heard and, along with colleagues in the Legislature, a compromise solution was reached. As signed by the Governor, the $9 million transfer will be a one-time only withdrawal and the Shore Protection Fund will continue to be reserved for beach replenishment only.

• Conference with Army Corps of Engineers
On June 24-25, The Partnership was a co-sponsor with the Monmouth University Urban Coast Institute for a conference with the Arm y Corp of Engineers from the New York, Delaware, and Pennsylvania regions. The two-day workshop focused on developing a strategy to meet long term mid-Atlantic shoreline protection needs. Action steps from the conference will be addressed by conference attendants within topic groupings.
